The hard
work for the Panto is now over. Thanks to the 80 people who in one way or
another helped to make it such a success. Nearly 500 people came to see the
performances and we have had many compliments. Jenny has written a few words
and I have included these at the end as Jenny's Jottings.
This is now
to be on
Fresh from
the Grand Theatre, Porthcawl, Gower
Young Farmers is putting on the pantomime 'Cinderella' on Friday 11th April in Reynoldston Village Hall. The
production has all the 'ingredients', with a cast of thirty, two Dames, and
plenty of knock about humour. The production starts at

and support these enthusiastic young people
Currently,
because of holiday commitments, we have had to put these on hold this
year. We are looking for someone to act as an enabler. There are people willing
to take part but we need someone to push it forward. If you are interested
please contact me urgently. We are committed to putting on One Act Plays in the
slot for the future.
Plans are
in an early stage but if you are interested in taking part or know someone who
is interested in taking part particularly if you or they have not previously
been involved with Gower Players please contact me. As we always point out this
is not only actors but also backstage including for example set builders,
stage crew, wardrobe and props. If you are interested we will find you
something to do.
For the
last few years we have produced a panto in the spring. We are already giving
consideration about what to do for 2004.
I now keep
this site up-to-date and hope you will find it worth a visit. Highlights
include a diary of local events and photos of our recent panto. Chris Spacie has been kind enough to provide me with photos of
the Dress Rehearsal and the Production. If you were involved you should
defiantly look at these. Go to www.GowerPlayers.org.uk

Well the
panto is over for another year.
I think
Gower Players can be proud of so much talent within our membership - a very
wonderful set, lighting & sound (thank you Alan, David and teams) and some
fantastic individual performances. Special thanks to
I just love
working with you all, and seeing a show develop over the weeks. I am constantly
amazed how you build an idea whether to produce a set or a character, learn
lines and moves, and manage to dance and sing at the same time. It is fun for me; it's fun for the audience and most
important I hope it's been fun for you.
And I'm now
looking at scripts for 200, possibly 'Cinderella', if I can find one with lots
of chorus work

would be delighted to hear from you with with a
request for a standing order form or with a cheque for £10 for a single patron
£15 for a Joint Patronage or £5 for a member.
I will be writing to
Members and Patrons with full details nearer the AGM but please make a note of
the date of the AGM in your diary.
A farce written by Philip King.
Set in the vicarage of a small village sometime during the Second World War.
Some very good character parts including Ida, the maid, Miss Skillon (a rather sour spinster) who gets progressively drunk and amorous throughout the production as she samples alcohol for the first time.
The Rev. Toop is the resident vicar with his new wife Penelope. She is visited by an old friend Clive Winton who is caught in a compromising situation with Penelope and is consequently mistaken for the Rev Toop
Visitors causing further confusion are the Rev Humphrey, who is mistaken for the Rev Toop, the Bishop of Lax, Penelope’s father, and the Man (a German pilot shot down near the vicarage). He wants Penelope to pass him off as her husband (That should make three people mistaken for the Rev Toop) while he tries to escape from the search party led by Sergeant Towers.
Add to this chases through the house, people being accidentally knocked unconscious, being locked in cupboards, men losing their trousers ……. which should result in a fun production for the cast and lots of laughs for the audience.
It is hoped to start rehearsals in early September with the production taking place around the middle of November.
Make a date in your diary. if you want to take part details will be circulated after
the Autumn Production
